Rev. Khuong Chau

Senior Pastor

Rev. Khuong Chau was born and raised in Vietnam. There, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science in 2007. He worked as a computer science teacher in Saigon from 2007 to 2011. In the summer of 2011, he came to the U.S. to study and received his Master’s degree in Computer Information Systems in 2013. During this time, he worked as an IT Manager for the Union University of California and received a Master of Art in Ministry. In 2016, God called him to go to Claremont School of Theology to study and obtain a Master of Divinity. While he was in seminary, he was appointed as a local pastor at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a provisional elder in 2019 and continued his ministry at Good Shepherd as an associate pastor for the English Ministry.

Rev. Chau was ordained as an Elder in Full Connection in June 2023. The Bishop appointed him a 25% appointment as the Associate Pastor of the Vietnamese-language ministry at Garden Grove United Methodist Church and a 75% appointment as the Associate Pastor of the English-language ministry at Good Shepherd UMC of Westminster. Beginning July 2025, the Bishop has appointed him as a full-time senior pastor at Good Shepherd UMC of Westminster where he serves both Vietnamese and English language ministries.
Rev. Chau and his wife, Huyen, have two children, daughter GiaHan, and son Simon.

It is an honored to be a new preschool director at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church – Preschool. With more than 25 years of experiences within the educational fields that includes having been at preschool, elementary school, and Junior High teacher in public and Christian school setting, and currently holding a Master Degree and a school psychology credential, my genuine love for children and a heart to invest not only in a child’s educational journey, but a desire to help these young learners to reach their full potentials in academic and explore their creativities. Knowing how important laying a strong foundation is for years to come, my heart is set to strengthen the connection between teachers and the preschool and where the families in the local communities interact with the church ministry in a true partnership. Under the new administration and staff, the Good Shepherd UMC – Preschool is presenting a new curriculum to improve educational program as well as spiritual aspects, so that you child is highly prepared for the next year he/she enters. Our teachers also encourage each child’s spiritual development through Bible stories, weekly chapel time, and special Holiday events throughout the year. Your child/children will have a great experience here at Good Shepherd Preschool where your child will feel loved.
