Rev. Khuong Chau was born and raised in Vietnam, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science in 2007. Following graduation, he served as a computer science teacher in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) from 2007 to 2011.
In 2011, Rev. Chau moved to the United States to pursue further education. He earned a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems in 2013 while serving as an Information Technology Manager at California Union University. During this season, God deepened his call to pastoral ministry, leading him to complete a Master of Arts in Ministry.
Responding to God’s calling, Rev. Chau enrolled at Claremont School of Theology in 2016, where he earned the Master of Divinity degree. While attending seminary, he was appointed as a Local Pastor at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Westminster, California. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Provisional Elder in The United Methodist Church in 2019 and continued serving as Associate Pastor for the English-language ministry at Good Shepherd.
In June 2023, Rev. Chau was ordained as an Elder in Full Connection in The United Methodist Church. Following his ordination, he was appointed by the Bishop to serve a dual appointment: 25% as Associate Pastor of the Vietnamese-language ministry at Garden Grove United Methodist Church and 75% as Associate Pastor of the English-language ministry at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Westminster.
Beginning in July 2025, Bishop Dottie Escobedo-Frank appointed Rev. Chau as the full-time Senior Pastor of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, where he leads both the English- and Vietnamese-language congregations. His ministry is marked by a passion for biblical preaching, discipleship, community outreach, and building a multicultural church that reflects God’s love and grace.
By God’s grace, Rev. Chau was awarded a full scholarship to pursue doctoral studies at National University. In August 2025, he earned his Ph.D. in Technology and Innovation Management, integrating his background in technology, leadership, and ministry to equip the Church for faithful witness in a rapidly changing world.
Rev. Chau and his wife, Huyen, are blessed with two children, their daughter, Gia Han, and their son, Simon.
